Know when to stop betting
When it comes to poker, continuation bet is something that everyone knows. Continuation bet is definitely very profitable, but you may lose if you keep on doing it every single time. And this is why it is important to know when to stop continuation betting.
Continuation bet is not an option against multiple callers. If you rise prior to the flop and then are called by more than one opponent, chances are high that your continuation bet will not work. As there are more players, your fold equity will diminish and you will be called frequently.
And for the exact reasons stated above you should avoid continuation bet as much as you can against calling stations. As the saying goes, “you cannot bluff a calling station”. However this does not mean that you will not bet at all. Use your intuition, take any particular opponent into consideration and then decide your optimal play.
